Hello!
My name is Zsófia Simák, but you can call me Sophie. I'm an independent illustrator from Hungary (now living in the US), and I'm really honored to share my art with so many lovely people.
Background & Education
In primary school I took years of extracurricular art workshops. Like most kids, I loved making art, and though I tried other forms (like piano), I was inevitably drawn to illustration (no pun intended). When I was 15 I attended an art highschool where I studied animation and art history for five years. In 2021 I graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts with a bachelor's and a master's in graphic arts. In 2022, I recieved my second master's degree as a Teacher of Fine Arts.
As a part of my master's degrees I wrote two thesis papers: the first titled "Art in the Age of Social Media: The Roles and Connections of Online and Offline Spaces" and the second titled "Art and Study in Virtual Spaces".
Styles & Techniques
My style adapts throughout the years as I grow and change as a person and artist. My art can often be recognized by the "little lines" (as I like to call them), or by the "suggested" silhouettes that I use in the majority of my artworks. Thematically speaking, I have a natural tendancy towards inner worlds of emotion, relationships with nature, and a gentle but complex sense of intimacy. Because of this I think my art tends to connect more with Introverted or self-reflective people who find comfort in the quiter moments of life, though I hope that anyone who sees it can find something of their own to take away.
